Tom Cotter AKA Dj Madness
Starting in the early nineties as a guest at Adelaide’s legendary ‘Arkaba’ nightclub, Tom Cotter aka Dj Madness graduated to regular warm-up & closing sets and was fortunate enough to work alongside and learn from some of the greats, such as Carl Cox, Westbam, H.M.C,Frank De Wulf, Lenny Dee and Groove Terminator, just to name a few.
In the mid 90’s the doors to ‘The Planet’ were opened, and here Tom began what was to be a four-year stint, playing up to three nights a week alongside fellow resident Dj’s Angu$, ATB & Brendon to crowds that were always 3000+.
Throughout this period Tom’s skills were also utilized at countless venues and dance parties around Australia. 1996 was the year his professionalism, commitment and high skill levels were acknowledged when he was voted Best Up-&-Coming Dj at The South Australian Dance Music Awards. Since then he has been given the opportunity to share the stage with touring international DJ’s such as Jeff Mills, CJ Bolland, Paul Oakenfold, Tony De Vit, Graham Park, Kevin Saunderson,Claud Young, Speedy J, Miguel Migs and St. Germain amongst others.
Tom’s key-mixing is a joy to hear and he is Adelaide’s favorite Disc Jockey amongst the Sound Engineering fraternity due to his (incredibly rare) ability to maintain and control sound pressure levels in any environment or situation. Nothing breaks and no one goes deaf when Dj Madness is at the helm. Heading north to Darwin a half a dozen times, Tom harnesses the awareness of what a Northern Territorian requires at Time having played at the largest night the club has ever had, NYE 01/02.
Tom’s ability to blend a wide variety of dance styles seamlessly, and natural flair for pleasing ANY crowd have made him one of the most in-demand Dj’s in South Australia today.
Founded in 2014 and specialising in all things electronic music, Young Muscle is an Adelaide based music company. Some of the time we manage emerging artists, some of the time we act as booking agents, some of the time we throw parties & the rest of the time we are playing records. Over the past two years we have held parties in warehouses, atriums, alleyways, houses, vineyards, town halls and even on the banks of the mighty Torrens river itself.
